Our previous blog – “Is vaping eco-friendly?” delves into the ins and outs of the environmental impact that vaping has upon our ecosystem.
This blog aims to give eco-conscious vapers a few tips and tricks on how you can reduce your carbon footprint when it comes to vaping.
As vapers, we can give ourselves a big pat on the back for not contributing to the trillions of cigarette butts that leach nicotine and heavy metals before turning into microplastic pollution. We can also congratulate ourselves for choosing to make a change and not breath in the toxic chemicals that come with smoking.
We can also take comfort in the fact that we aren’t contributing to the devastating role the tobacco industry has in deforestation.
However, as vapers, we know that there is more that can be done within the vape industry to ease our environmental footprint.
Our 6 Top Tips for Eco-Conscious Vapers
1. Battery Care and Disposal
To ensure you are being as eco-friendly as possible, make sure that you dispose of your batteries in a safe manner. Don’t throw it in the general waste, all disposable vape batteries can be recycled with ease. Most councils have a battery collection scheme in place and the majority of supermarkets have collection points.
You can also take extra steps to prolong the life of your battery by ensuring that you only charge the battery until it has a full charge – leaving your e-cig plugged in overnight is just a waste of energy and it could also shorten the life of your battery. Furthermore, turn your e-cig off in between vaping, it’ll make the battery last a bit longer!
2. STOP using single use and disposable cig-a-likes!
There is just no need. It’s a massive cause of plastic pollution, most of them can’t be recycled and you’re seriously missing out on a true vaping experience as most cig-a-likes taste AWFUL.
If you are a regular vaper and looking to be more eco-friendly, make sure you’re using a refillable vaping device, this one step alone gives you serious eco points!
3. Donate or sell old hardware
This leads us on to our next point, avid vapers can accumulate A LOT of hardware, rather than chucking it in the bin, why not donate to someone who can make use of it? Or you could sell it and make a few extra £££’s.
4. Recycle, Recycle, Recycle!
When we think of being eco-friendly, plastic is the first thing that comes to mind. Frustratingly, the TPD legislation that was introduced to ensure consumers receive quality vape products, has had a negative impact when it comes to single-use plastics.
Make sure that you recycle all eliquid bottles, VG/PG bottles, nozzles and lids – you’ll be pleased to know that all of our bottles, nozzles and lids are fully recyclable. Most vaping gear can be recycled too, if you break your device down into constituent parts.
5. Ditch the pre-made coil and build your own
Not only is this more eco-friendly, it’ll save you a good chunk of money too – winner! Opt for a device that lets you build your coils rather than using stock coils. Rather than throwing out an entire stock coil, rebuildable coils lets you replace the cotton and keep on vaping. Once the wire itself becomes aged, you can throw out the wire and build a new coil.
This small change can make a huge difference to your carbon footprint, especially when you consider the manufacturing side of things. Manufacturing has huge effects on the environment, by choosing to build your own coils you’re cutting that out.
6. Look into DIY Vaping – if plastic waste is a concern for you eco-friendly warriors, why not venture into DIY vaping rather than purchasing multiple shortfills?
Our Boss Shots come in both 250ml and 500ml bottles, plus you can reuse the bottles afterwards if you’d like!
Purchasing VG and PG in larger quantities also cuts down on plastic waste.
Here at Flavour Boss HQ we recognise that the vape industry needs to do more when it comes to being eco-friendly, that’s why…..
