Is this the end for Disposable Vapes?

This may seem like overkill but in the UK we are discarding around 5 million single use vape devices each week according to research carried out from the not-for-profit group Material Focus.[2] This has a huge impact on the environment with tonnes of lithium ending up in landfill sites each year.[3]

 There is also the issue of underage vaping and various news agencies have reported today 12^th September that government ministers are set to ban single use vapes in a decision set to be unveiled next week as part of a consultation with the Health Department.[4]

There have also been increased reports of under the counter disposables being seized in operations carried out by Trading Standards and Police in various towns and cities across the UK.[5] These devices do not conform to any required TPD legislation as they contain far more than the legal limit of 2ml of e-liquid.

The average cost of one 600 puff single use vape device is around £5.99 compared to a packet of cigarettes at £14.39 per packet it is unquestionably a cheaper alternative in the short term, yet single use disposable vape devices are far from economical in the long term.
